Atom Consists of a nucleus, which has a positive charge, and a set of electrons that move around the nucleus.
Molecule Are made up of atoms that are held together by chemical bonds.
Element determined by the number of protons in the nuclei of its atoms. The number of protons in the nucleus of the atom of an element is known as the atomic number.
Compound A substance made of two or more different elements that are chemically combined
Pure Substances A substance that is made up of one type of matter. Has to be chemically separated.

Heterogeneous A mixture where the particles are not evenly distributed.
Suspension A mixture containing particles that settle if not disturbed.
Colloid Are mixtures containing mid sized particles that do not settle.
