Elements Elements are anything on the periodic table Ex:Oxygen,Copper,Zinc,Hydrogen,Nitrogen, etc..
Compounds Compounds are two or more elements put together Ex: two hydrogen and one oxygen make H2O
Pure Substance Made up of one type of matter (can be an element or a compound) Has a constant composition. Elements or Compounds Bound Together, can not be seperated using physical means ( Must be chemical )
Mixture A substance made up of multiple types of matter. Has variable compositions. Elements and Compounds NOT Bound Together. Can be seperated by physical meas ( Sorting,Filtering, Heating & Cooling)
Heterogeneous A mixture where the particles are NOT evenly distributed
Homogeneous A mixture where the particles are evenly distributed
Solution Have tiny particles that disperes light
Colloid A mixture containing mid-sized particles that do not settle out (milk)
Suspension A mixture containing particles that settle out if left undisturbed ( Italian dressing, Medicine)
