Science

TermDefinition
Solution A type of mixture called homogenous mixture, that is the same throughout
Solute Is a substance that can be dissolved to make a solution
Solvent A substance that dissolves a solute
Concentration The amount of solute dissolved at a given tempeture
Dilute Have a low concentration of solute
Saturated The maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved in the solvent at a given tempeture
Solubility The amount of solute that dissolves in a certain amount of a solvent at a given tempeture
Acid Sour taste is a characteristic property of all acids in aqueous solution. react with bases to produce salt and water. Aqueous acid solutions conduct electricity, they are identified as electrolyte reacts with metal to produce hydrogen gas turns red
Base Tends to taste bitter and feel slippery Aqueous basic solutions conduct electricity, and are identified as electrolyte Reacts with acids to produce a salt and water turns indicator blue
pH scale measures the amount of H+ concentration a scale from 1-14
Neutral a solution that is neither a acid nor a base a neutral solution has a pH of 7
Alloy a solid mixture composed of a metal and one or more other substance
Diffusion movement of molecules from high concentration to low concentration
Osmosis diffusion of molecules in a Permible Cell Membrane
Isotonic When the base is pulled from a acid and becomes equal.
Hypertonic higher solute or greater cone water always go to the......
Hypotonic low solute or low cone the water leaves the __________ and goes into the hypertonic
Concentrated the amount of solvent the solute can dissolve
Homogeneous mixture the same throughout
Heterogeneous mixture separated throughout
Indicator show if something is a acid or a base

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
