speed | the rate at which someone or something is able to move or operate |
velocity | the speed of something in a given direction |
distance | an amount of space between two things or people. |
displacement | the moving of something from its place or position. |
motion | the action or process of moving or being moved. |
reference point | a basis or standard for evaluation, assessment, or comparison; a criterion. |
vector | a quantity having direction as well as magnitude, especially as determining the position of one point in space relative to another. |
average speed | average speed of an object in an interval of time is the distance traveled by the object divided by the duration of the interval; the instantaneous speed is the limit of the average speed as the duration of the time interval approaches zero. |
instantaneous speed | When the speed of an object is constantly changing, the instantaneous speed is the speed of an object at a particular moment (instant) in time. Example. Fingerspell. instantaneous speed. |
slope | a surface of which one end or side is at a higher level than another; a rising or falling surface. |
