Parts of Speech Definitions

TermDefinition
Noun person, place, thing, or idea
Verb action or state of being
Pronouns word that replaces a noun in a sentence
Adjective words that describe/change nouns or pronouns
Adverbs words that describe/change verbs. adjectives or other adverbs
Preposition relates a noun or pronoun to another word in the sentence; tells you where it is
Conjunction connects words or groups of words
Interjection word or group of words that expresses feeling or emotion
