| Force | push or a pull |
| Kinetic energy | energy of motion |
| Potential energy | stored energy |
| Elastic potential energy | the energy of stretching an object |
| Gravitational potential energy | the energy due to height or position |
| mechanical energy | energy associated with motion. sound is a type of mechanical energy |
| thermal energy | a measure of the energy of the particles(atoms) in an object. The faster the particles move, the warmer the object feels |

| electromagnetic energy | energy that travels in waves |
| nuclear energy | energy stored in the nucleus of an atom. When the nucleus is split, energy is released |
| energy conversion | a change from one form of energy to another |
| The Law of Conservation of Energy | states that energy cannot be created or destroyed; it changes from one form to another |
