Technology Using knowledge to develop products and systems that satisfy needs, solve problems, and increase our capabilities.
Science A system of studying, testing, and experimenting on things in nature. Science is a search for general laws about how the world works.
Weathering The breaking down of rock into smaller pieces.
Production The act or process of making or producing.
Erosion The carrying away of sediment.
Meteorologists Scientists who observe, record, and make predictions about changes in the weather, based on changes within the atmosphere.
Fossil Fuels Fuel produced deep in the Earth over time from decaying animals and plants; coal, oil, and natural gas.
Manufacturing The changing of materials into usable products.
Engineering The application of science and math by which the properties of matter and the sources of energy in nature are made useful to people. The design and manufacture of complex products.
Mass Production The making of goods in large numbers by means of machines or assembly lines.
Universal Systems Model A model that is used to evaluate systems. All technological systems can be described with the Universal Systems Model, and the five elements that define this model are : Goal, Inputs, Processes, Outputs, and Feedback.
Design Process A process that uses problem solving to arrive at the best solution, or design. It is also used to improve products that are already in use. The steps of the Design Process are Identify the problem, gather information, develop alternative solutions,
