| Saturated | A solution that contains as much solute as as the solvent can normally hold at a given temperature |
| Super saturated | A solution that contains more solute than the solvent can normally hold at a given temperature |
| An acid | A compound that produces hydrogen ions when dissolved in water; a proton donor |
| An indicator | A substance that changes color in the presence of an acid or a base |
| A base | A compound that produces hydroxide ions (OH-) when dissolved in water; a proton acceptor |
| Neutralization | A chemical reaction between an acid and a base |
| A salt | An ionic compound formed when an acid reacts with a base |
| pH | A measure of the hydronium ion concentration of a solution |
| Electrolytes | A compound that completely dissolves in and conducts electricity |
