| Cycle | series of events that are regularly repeated |
| frequency | the rate at which something occurs |
| amplitude | the mamimum extent of a vibration |
| period | a length or a portion of time |
| oscillator | a device for generating oscillating electric currents |
| damping | a decrease in the amplitude of an oscillation as a result of energy being drained from the system to overcome frictional or other resistive forces. |
| linear motion | is motion along a straight line |
| harmonic motion | is a type of periodic motion where the restoring force is directly proportional to the displacement. |
| hertz | equal to one cycle per second |
| phase | a distinct period or stage in a process of change |
