Chapter 11 Vocab

TermDefinition
Pendulum an object that has harmonic motion by moving back and forth over and over again
Cycle a unit of motion that repeats over and over.
Frequency the number of cycles it makes per second
Amplitude describes how big the cycle is
Period the time for one cycle
Oscillator a system that shows harmonic motion
Damping describes the gradual loss of amplitude of an oscillator
Linear Motion motion that goes from one place to another
Harmonic Motion motion that repeats over and over
Hertz unit of one cycle per second
Phase where the oscillator is in the cycle
