TermDefinition
Pendulum any apparatus consisting of a body of possibly irregular shape allowed to rotate freely about a horizontal axis on which it is pivoted
Cycle any complete round or series of occurrences that repeats or is repeated.
Frequency the number of periods or regularly occurring events of any given kind in unit of time, usually in one second.
Amplitude the absolute value of the maximum displacement from a zero value during one period of an oscillation.
Period a round of time marked by the recurrence of some phenomenon or occupied by some recurring process or action.
Oscillator a circuit that produces an alternating output current of a certain frequency determined by the characteristics of the circuit components.
Damping The decrease of amplitude of an electrical or mechanical wave
Linear Motion Is a motion along a straight line
Harmonic Motion periodic motion consisting of one or more vibratory motions that are symmetric about a region of equilibrium, as the motion of a vibrating string of a musical instrument.
Hertz the standard unit of frequency in the International System of Units (SI), equal to one cycle per second.
Phase a particular stage or point of advancement in a cycle; the fractional part of the period through which the time has advanced, measured from some arbitrary origin often expressed as an angle (phase angle) the entire period being taken as 360°.
