Rewards Vocabulary Lessons 13-16 (content area)

TermDefinition
organisms Plants or animals, including ones so small you cannot see them without using a microscope.
resources Things such as land, minerals, plants, and animals that people have available to them and can use to meet their needs.
balance A situation in which all the parts are equal in strength or importance.
appear When someone or something becomes visible or comes into your sight.
scientific Used to describe things that relate to science.
process A series of actions that have a particular result, such as factory workers taking raw materials and changing them into something else.
alternatively Used to describe when we talk about something different from what has just been said.
approximate Something that is very close but not exactly the same as a certain number or a certain thing.
characteristic A feature or quality that is typical of a person, place or thing.
properties The characteristics or qualities that are typical of a place, an object or a group of objects.
abundant Something that is present in large quantities.
determine discover a fact or information as a result of investigation.
emigrate You leave your one country to live in another country.
official When the government or someone in authority has approved it.
develops When someone grows or changes over time and usually becomes more advanced, complete or severe.
contribute When you say or do something to bring about a successful result.
