Rewards Vocabulary Lessons 1-4

TermDefinition
distract To take attention away from what you are doing.
admit When you confess to something.
distraught When you are so upset and worried that you cannot think clearly.
abstract When ideas and pieces of art are based on general ideas rather than specific people or things.
distinct Something you can hear, see or taste it clearly.
absurd Something that is ridiculous or does not make sense.
discard To get rid of it because you no longer want or need it.
administers When someone takes charge of something such as a country, business, test or organization, he or she takes responsibility for organizing and supervising it.
betray When you do something that hurts or disappoints a person who trusts you.
confine This means to keep a person or thing from leaving or spreading beyond a specific place.
respond When you react to someone or an event by doing or saying something yourself.
propose When you plan an idea, you suggest it.
persist When you continue to do something even though it is difficult or other people are against it.
record When you write, photograph or put info into a computer so that you or others can refer to it in the future.
predict When you say ahead of time of what may happen in the future.
contrast When you determine the differences between two or more things or ideas.
