| State of Matter | the physical forms of matter which are solid, liquid and gas |
| Solid | the state of matter in which the volume are the shape of a substance are fixed |
| Liquid | composed of molecules that move freely among themselves but do not tend to separate like those of gases; neither gaseous nor solid. |
| Gas | a form of matter that does not have definite volume or shape |
| Melting Point | the temperature at which a solid changes to a liquid |
| vaporization | process in which a liquid changes to a gas |
| boiling point | the temperature at which a liquid vaporizes and changes to a gas |
| condensation | the change of state from a gas into a liquid |
| freezing point | the temperature at which a liquid changes to a solid |
| sublimation | process in which a solid changes directly into a gas |
| phase change diagram | drawing that shows the relationship among temperature and changes of state |
| plasma | a state of matter that forms when temperatures are enough to completely remove electrons from the atoms to which they were bound |
