| qualitative | made by gathering information that can be recorded as a number with a measurement |
| infrence | not a fact, but an interpretation of what the direct observations mean |
| constant | describes what scientists expect to happen every time under a particular set of conditions |
| scientific law | part of an experiment that is held in the same condition for control and experimental |
| manipulative variable | part of the experiment that changes |
| independent variable | a factor in a controlled experiment that is intentionally changed by the experimenter |
| scientific therory | a well tested explanation for a wide range of observations or experimental results |
