| Term | Definition |

| Matter | anything that has mass and takes up space. |
| Physical Properties | Any substance in matter into a different substance. Changing somethings apperance. |
| weight | Gravities pull to the ground. |
| Mass | Matter in an object.Does not change |
| Qualitative Observations | Made by gathering information that can be recorded using descriptive language. |
| Quantity | Made by gathering information that can be recorded as a number with a measurement unit. |
| Inference | Not a fact, but an interpretation of what the direct observations mean. |
| scientific law | Describes what scientists expect to happen every time under a particular set of condidtions. |
| Constant | Part of an experiment that is held in he same condition |
| Variable | Part of the experiment that changes |
| Mulnimulated variables | A factor in a controlled experiment that is intentially changed by the the experiment. |
| Scientific therory | A well tested explanation for a wide ranges of observation or experimental results. |

| Independent Variable | A resulting factor in a controlled experiment that is observed and mesured to see if it changes due to the manipulated another variable. |
| Control | A course of action completed in order to test a hypothesis. |
