Chapter 4 Med Terms

Muscular System

TermDefinition
Muscles Make body movement possible, hold body parts erect, move body fluids, and produce body heat.
Fascia Cover, support, and separate muscles.
Tendons Attach muscle to bone.
Kinesiology The study of muscular activity and the resulting movement of body parts.
Contraction The tightening of a muscle.
Neuromuscular Pertaining to the relationship between nerve and muscle.
Abduction Movement away from the midline of the body.
Hyperextension The extreme or overextension of a limb or body part beyond its normal limit.
