Describe the movement of particles in solids ,liquids, gases, and plasma states
Term | Definition |
---|---|
state of matter | the physical forms of matter which include solids, liquids, and gas |
solid | the state of matter in which the volume and shape of a substance ar fixed |
liquid | the state of matter that has definite volume but not a definite volume or shape |
gas | a form of matter that does not have a definite volume or shape |
melting point | temperature which a solid changes to a liquid |
vaporization | process in which a liquid changes to a gas |
boiling point | the temperature at which a liquid boils |
condensation | the change of state from a gas to a liquid |
freezing point | temperature at which a liquid changes into a solid |
sublimation | the process in which a solid changes directly into a gas |
phase change diagram | drawing that shows the relationship among temperatures and a change of state |
plasma | a state of matter that forms when temperature are high enough to completely remove electrons from the atoms which they were bound |
