The Simple Seven

All you need to know about Simple Machines

QuestionAnswer
Pulley a machine that uses a grooved wheel and rope to raise, lower, and move objects
Inclined Plane a slanting surface connecting a lower level and higher level
Screw an inclined plane wrapped around a pole which holds things together or lifts materials
Wheel and Axle a wheel with a rod called an axle, through its center, it lifts or moves loads
Wedge an object with at least one slanting side ending in a sharp edge that cuts materials apart
Lever a bar that rests on an support called a fulcrum which lifts or moves loads
Gears toothed or pegged wheels meshed together to transmit motion and force
