describe the difference between pure substance

| Pure substance | a sample of matter with both definite and constant composition with distinct chemical properties. |
| compound | a substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds |
| molecule | the smallest unit of a substance that keeps all of the chemical and physical properties of that substance |
| chemical formula | a combination of chemical symbols and numbers to represent a substance |
| subscript | a number written below and to the right of a chemical symbol in a formula |
| mixture | a combination of two or more substances that are not chemically combined. |
