| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| State of matter | the physical forms of matter which include solid liquid and gas |
| Solid | the state of matter which the volume and shape of a substance are fixed |
| Liquid | the state of matter that has a definite volume but not a definite shape |
| Gas | a form of matter that does not have a definite volume or shape |
| Melting Point | temperature at which a solid changes to a liquid |
| Vaporization | process in which a liquid changes to a gas |
| Boiling Point | temperature at which a liqiud vaporizes and changes to a gas |
| Condensation | a change of state from a gas to a liquid |
| Freezing Point | temperature at which a liqiud changes into a solid |
| Sublimation | the process in which a solid changes directly into gas |
| Phase | drawing that shows the relationship among temperature and changes |
| Plasma | a state of matter that forms when temperatures are high enough to completly remove electrons the atoms from the atons to which they were bond |
