Describe the movement of particles in Solids, liquids, gases & plasma states
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| State of Matter | the physical forms of matter (Solid, liquid & gas) |
| Solid | the state of matter in which the volume & shape shape of a substance are fixed |
| Liquid | the state of matter that has a definite volume but not a definite shape |
| Gas | a form of matter that doesn't have a definite volume/shape |
| Melting Point | Temperature at which a solid to a liquid |
| Vaporization | Process in which a liquid changes to a gas |
| Boiling Point | Temperature at which a liquid vaporizes & changes to gas |
| Condensation | the change of state from a gas to a liquid |
| Freezing Point | Temperature at which a liquid changes into a solid |
| Sublimation | the process in which a a solid changes directly into a gas |
| Phase-Change Diagram | A drawing that shows the relationships among temperature & changes of state |
| Plasma | A state of matter that forms when temperatures are high enough to completely remove electrons from the atoms to which they were bound |
