Distinguish between atoms and molecules

TermDefinition
atoms the smallest unit of an element that maintains the properties of that element
element a substance that cannot be separated that cannot or broken down into simpler substances by chemical means.
nucleus an atom central region, which is made up of protons and neutrons
proton a subatomic particle that has a positive charge and that is found in the nucleus of an atom.
neutron a subatomic particle that has a positive charge and that has no charge and that is found in the nucleus of an atom
electron a subatomic particle that has negative charge
atomic number the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom ; the same for all the atoms of an element
neutral having no overall change
atomic mass the mass of an atom expressed in atomic mass unit
chemical symbol a one or two letter code that represents the article
