Distinguish between atoms and molecules.

TermDefinition
Atom The smallest unit in an element that still maintains the properties of that element
Element A substance that cannot be seperated or broken down by chemical means
Nucleus In physical science an atom's central region, which is made up of protons and neutrons
Proton A subatomic particle that has a positive charge and that is found in the nucleus of an atom
Neutron A subatomic particle with no charge that is found in the nucleus of an atom
Electron A subatomic particle that has a negative charge
Atomic Number The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
Neutral having no overall charge
Atomic Mass The mass an atom expresses in atomic mass units
Chemical Symbol A on or two letter code that represents an element
