Distinguish between atoms and molecules.

| Atom | The smallest unit in an element that still maintains the properties of that element |
| Element | A substance that cannot be seperated or broken down by chemical means |
| Nucleus | In physical science an atom's central region, which is made up of protons and neutrons |
| Proton | A subatomic particle that has a positive charge and that is found in the nucleus of an atom |
| Neutron | A subatomic particle with no charge that is found in the nucleus of an atom |
| Electron | A subatomic particle that has a negative charge |
| Atomic Number | The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom |
| Neutral | having no overall charge |
| Atomic Mass | The mass an atom expresses in atomic mass units |
| Chemical Symbol | A on or two letter code that represents an element |
