Distinguish between physical and chemical properties of matter
| Term | Definition |

| Physical property | a characteristic of a substances that does not involve a chemical change, such as density, color, or hardness |
| Density | the ratio of the mass of a substance to the volume of the substance |
| Chemical property | a property of matter the describes a substance's ability to participate in chemical reactions |
| Physical Change | a change of matter from one form to another without a change in chemical properties |
| Chemical Change | a change that occurs when one or more substances change into entirely new substances with different properties |
| Chemical Reaction | the process by which one or more substances change to produce one or more different substances |
| Precipitate | a solid that is produced as a result of chemical reaction in solution |
| Combustion Reaction | a chemical reaction that occurs when oxygen combines itself with another substance |
