describe the difference between pure substances and mixtures

| pure substances | a sample of matter,either a single element or a single compound, that has definite chemical and physical properties |
| compound | a substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical mass |
| molecule | a smallest unit of substance that keeps all of the physical and chemical properties of that substances |
| chemical formula | a combination of chemical symbols and numbers to representa substance |
| subscript | a small number written to the right and slightly below a chemical symbol to tell the number of atoms of that element in the substances |
| mixture | a combination of two or more substances that are not chemically combined |
