Describe the difference between pure substances (elements & compounds) & mixture
| Term | Definition |

| pure substance | a sample of matter, either a single element or a single compound that has definite chemical & physical properties. |
| compound | a substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds. |
| molecule | the smallest unit of a substance chemical properties of that substance. |
| chemical formula | a combo of chemical symbols and numbers to represent a substance. |
| subscript | a small number written to the right and slightly below a chemical symbol to tell the number of atoms of that elements in the substance. |
| mixture | a combo of 2 or more substances that arent chemically combined. |
