Describe the difference between elements and compounds, and mixturees
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Pure Substances | a sample of matter, either a single element or a single compound, that has a definite chemical and physical properties |
Compound | a substance made up of two or more bonds |
Molecule | the smallest unit of a substance that keeps all of the physical and chemical properties of that substance |
Chemical Formula | a combination of chemical symbols and numbers to represent a substance |
Subscript | a number written below, to the right of a chemical symbol in the formula |
Mixture | a combination of two or more substances that are not chemically combined |
