describe the difference between pure substances (elements and compounds )and mix
| Term | Definition |

| Pure Substance | a sample of matter ,either a single element or a single compound that has definite chemical and physical properties |
| Compound | a substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds |
| Molecule | the smallest unit of substance that keeps all of the physical and chemical properties of that substance |
| Chemical Formula | a combination of chemical symbios and numbers to represent a substance |
| Subscript | a small number written to the right and slightly below a chemical symbol to tell the number of atoms of that element in the substance |
| Mixture | a combination of two or more susbstances that are not chemical combined |
