Distinguish between atoms and molecules
Term | Definition |

Atom | the smallest unit element that maintains the property of that element |
Element | a substance that cannot be separated or broken down into simpler substances by chemical means |
Nucleus | in physical science, an atom's central region, which is made up of protons and neutrons |
Proton | a subatomic particle that has a positive charge and is found in the nucleus of an atom |
Neutron | a subatomic particle that has no charge and is found in the nucleus of an atom |
Electron | a subatomic particle that has an electric charge |
Atomic Number | the number of protons in the nucleus of an element |
Neutral | having no overall charge |
Atomic Mass | the mass of an atom expressed in atomic mass units |
Chemical Symbol | a one or two letter code that represents an element |
