Distinguish between atoms and molecules

QuestionAnswer
Atom the smallest unit of an element that maintains the properties of that element
Element a substance that cannot be separated or broken down into simpler substance by chemical means
Nucleus in physical science, an atom's central region, which is made up of protons and neutrons
Proton a subatomic particle that has a positive charge and that is found in the nucleus of an atom.
Electron a subatomic particle that has a negative charge
Atomic mass the mass of an atom expressed in atomic mass units
Neutral having no overall charge
Chemical symbol a one- or letter code that represents an elements
Atomic number the number of protons in the nucleus of an element
neutron a subatomic particle of about the same mass as a proton but without an electric charge, present in all atomic nuclei except those of ordinary hydrogen.
