Vocab. words related to region.

TermDefinition
Functional Region Areas that are linked together to function as a unit.
Perceptual Region Areas based on human thoughts and feelings; often identified by a nickname.
Formal Region An area that has one or more common characteristics that separate it from another.
Physical Characteristics The physical properties of a region or area (mountains, water systems, etc.)
Human Characteristics The human properties of a region or area (culture, language, history, etc.)
Boundaries A line or place that marks the end of an area.
Fuzzy Boundaries A area with a boundary that doesn't really separate it or only partially separates it from another area.
Defined Boundaries An area with a set, constant boundary that separates it from other areas.
Unifying To make into or become a unit.
