Science Vocab (Chapters 1 and 2, Sections 1 and 2) and Definitions

TermDefinition
Matter Anything that has mass and takes up space
Mass A measure of how much matter an object contains
Weight The downward pull of an object due to gravity
Volume The amount of space that matter in an object occupies
Atom The smallest basic unit of matter
Molecule Two or more atoms that bond together
Density A measure of the amount of matter present in a given volume of a substance D=m/v
