Metric System

TermDefinition
Length Distance from one point to another.
Meter The metric unit for length.
Mass The amount of matter contained in an object.
Weight How strongly the force of gravity is pulling on the mass of an object.
Grams The metric unit for mass.
Newton The metric unit for weight.
Volume The amount of space an object occupies, its size, or capacity to hold something.
Liter The metric unit for liquid volume.
Cubic meters The metric unit for solid volume.
Celsius The metric unit for temperature.
Absolute zero The point at which all molecules stop moving.
Seconds The metric unit for time.
Meniscus The curve at the surface of a liquid due to the attraction of the molecules to the container or to each other.
