valence electrons electrons found in the outer energy shell. these are the electrons that can make compounds.
chemical bond the attraction between two atoms that are combined
electron dot diagram the element symbol with the valence electrons represented by dots.
ion an atom or group of atoms that have become electrically charged
ionic bond a chemical bond where the electrons from one element are gained or lost to another element
covalent bond a chemical bond where the electrons are shared by two or more elements.
metallic bond a bond between two metals where the electrons are around the metal
