| 1.Pure substance | Matter That Always Has The Same Compostition |
| 2.Element | Substance That Cannot Be Broken Down Into Simpler Substances |
| 3.Atom | Smallest Particle Of An Element |
| 4.Compound | Substance that is made from two Or Moresimpler substances |
| 5.Heterogeneous Mixture | Parts in mixture are noticeably different from one another |
| 6.Homogenous Mixture | Substances that are evenly distributed that it is difficult to distinguish ones substance in the micture from another. |
| 7.Solution | when substances dissolve and form a homogeneous mixture, the mixture that forms is called a solution |
| 8.Suspension | Heterogeneous Mixture that separates into layers over time. |
| 9.Colloid | contains some particles that are intermediate in size between the small particles in a solution and the larger particles in a suspension |
| 10.physical property | is any characteristic of a material that can be observed or measured without changing the composition of the substance in the material |
| 11.viscosity | the tendency of a liquid to keep from flowing-its resistance to flowing- |
| 12.conductivity | a materials ability to allow heat to flow. |
| 13.malliability | is the ability of a solid to be hammered without shattering |
| 14.melting point | the temperature at which a substance changes from a solid to a liquid. |
| 15.boiling point | the temperature at which the substance boils. |
| 16.Filtration | the process that separates materials based on the size of their particles. |
| 17.distillation | a process that separates the substances in a solution based on their boiling points |
| 18.physical change | occurs when some of the properties of a material change but the substances in the material remain the same |
| 19.chemical property | any ability to produce a change in the composition of matter |
| 20.flammability | materials ability to burn in the presence of oxygen |
| 21.reactivity | the property that describes how readily a substance combines chemically with other substances |
| 22.chemical change | occurs when a substance reacts and forms on or more new substances |
| 23.precipitate | any solid that forms and separates from a liquid mixture |
