Science Learning about the natural world by collecting information.
Qualitative observations Descriptions that don't use numbers or measurements.
Quantitative observations Descriptions that use numbers and measurements.
Inference When you explain an observation.
Chemistry Studying the properties of matter and the way matter changes.
Physics Study of matter and energy and how they interact.
Science inquiry Different ways that scientists study the natural world.
Variables Things that can change in an experiment.
Independent (manipulated) variables A variable that is expected to change.
Dependent (responding) variables A variable that is going to change based on the chances of the Independent variable.
Controlled experiment An experiment in which all the variables remain the same.
Scientific law Something that discribes what scientist expect to happen each time under the same set of conditions.
Scientific theory A well-tested explanation for a wide range of observations or experiment results.
