This is the list of vocabulary terms from MLK's letter from Birmingham Jail

TermDefinition
postponement to move something back or later
reverend (title) the title of a religious leader
reverend (adjective) something worthy of respect
revere verb, to show respect.
segregation se=away greg=groups to split or separate people into groups. Specifically, this refers to the Jim Crow laws of the South
stammering to have difficulty speaking due to fear or pressure or other reason The student was stammering as the teacher asked him why he was late.
smear to smash and spread something out in a destructive or messy way; to attack a person publicly using negative and false attacks
seldom rarely
sought past tense of "to seek" I sought for wisdom when I was a young man. Clearly, I have not found it.
self-purification In this context, it refers to the process of training one's self to not react to physical or verbal violence of aggression.
untimely at a bad time
underlying something that is at the base or foundation of everything else Racism, fear, and hatred are the underlying causes of segregation laws.
waiver something we never give out at North Side... To hesitate or stop out of fear.
