| solid | the state of matter that has a definite shape and volume. |
| liquid | the state of matter that has a definite volume but takes the shape of its container |
| gas | the state of matter that has no definite shape or volume |
| Boyle's Law | the pressure increases, volume decreases, temperature stays the same, and is in inverse relationship |
| Charles's Law | temperature increases, volume increases, pressure stays the same, and is a positive relationship |
| plasma | has no shape, no volume, conducts electricity, & is affective by electricity and magnetism. |
| change of state | when matter changes from one physical from to another. |
| melting point | from solid to liquid |
| freezing | from liquid to solid |
| vaporization | from liquid to gas(boiling point, evaporation) |
| boiling | when a liquid evaporates quickly |
| evaporation | the change of state from the liquid state to the gas state |
| condensation | from gas to liquid |
| sublimation | the process in which a solid changes directly into a gas |
| crystalline solid | a very orderly solid, with a three- dimensional arrangement of particles |
| amorphous solid | a solid made of particles that don't have a special arrangement |
| surface tension | a force that acts on the particles at the surface of a liquid |
| visosity | how thick something is, and a characteristic of a liquid, and is resistance to flow |
| pressure | force exported on an area |
