Chapter 1 Test

Special Different from everyone else.
Trait Something about you that shows what you are like.
Wellness A high level of health.
Self-concept The way you think about yourself.
Social traits The way you act.
Emotional traits The way you feel.
Emotions Feelings of love, fear, anger, happiness.
Personality The combination of the ways you think, act, and feel.
Strength (special trait) Something you do well.
Weakness Something you do not do well.
Self-esteem The good feeling you have about yourself.
Need Something that a person must meet or satisfy to be healthy.
Healthful / Physical needs Good for your health / rest, enough sleep, regular exercise.
Mental needs Thinking, learning, and using your mind.
Social needs Getting along with family, making new friends, keeping old friends.
Emotional needs Your feelings, such as fear or anger. You needs to feel loved.
Choosing ways to meet needs Change the way you think or feel. Change your actions, do something that makes you feel good about yourself.
How can you change a trait to meet a need? Change the way you act. New actions change the way you feel about yourself.
What happens if you cannot change a trait Think about the things you CAN change in your life. You can decide how to look, think, feel, and act. These choices will help you be the healthiest person you can be.
