Attitudes

TermDefinition
Attitude An evaluation a person makes about and object, person, group, event or issue.
Evaluation The judgement being made, either positive, neutral or negative
Tri-Component Model Proposes there are three components of an attitude (ABC)
Affective Component The emotional reactions an individual has towards an object, person, group, event or issue.
Behavioural Component The way an attitude is expressed through our actions.
Cognitive Component The belief we have about a person, object, group, event or issue.
Link Between an attitude and Behaviour Determined by strength of attitude, accessibility, social context and perceived control
