Using Household Measure in Pharmacy Calculations

How many teaspoons are in 1 tablespoon? 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon
How many tablespoons in 1 ounce? 2 tablespoons = 1 ounce
How many ounces are in 1 cup? 8 ounces = 1 cup
How many ounces equals 1 pound? 16 ounces = 1 pound
How many pints equals 1 quart? 2 pints = 1 quart
How many milliliters in one teaspoon? 5 ml = 1 teaspoon
How many milliliters in one tablespoon? 15ml = 1 tbsp
How many teaspoonfuls are in two tablespoonfuls? 3 tsp = 1 tbsp 3 x 2 = 6 6 teaspoons = 2 tbsp
How many milligrams of medication are in 1 tbsp of a drug that is 125mg/5ml 375mg xmg/15ml = 125mg/5ml
How many pounds does 1 kilogram equal? 1 kg = 2.2 lbs
How many milliliters equals 1 cup (8 oz)? 30ml = 1 oz 30 x 8 = 240ml
How many 1 oz doses are in 3 pints of liquid medication? 1 pint = 2 cups 3 pints x 2 cups = 6 cups in 3 pints 8 oz = 1 cup 8 oz x 6 cups = 48 oz
How many 2 tbsp doses are in 480ml(1 pint)? 2 tbsp = 30ml 480ml/30ml= 16 doses
A patient weighs 134 lbs. What is the weight in kilograms? 134 lbs / 2.2 = 60.9 kg
A patient weighs 58 kilograms. What is the weight in pounds? 58 kg x 2.2 = 127.6 lbs
A premature newborn weighs 1250g. How many pounds is this? 1250g = 1.25kg 1.25kg x 2.2 = 2.75 pounds
A prescription states to take 100mg of amoxicillin. The pharmacy has 125mg/5ml in stock. What will the dose be? 4ml xml/100mg = 5ml/125mg
If a 12 oz bottle of medication contain 0.75g of active ingredient, how many milligrams will be in a 1 tbsp dose? 31.25mg 12 oz = 360ml 1 tbsp = 15ml convert 0.75g to 750mg xmg/15ml = 750mg/360ml
A prescription states "Cephalexin 250mg/5ml Take 1 tsp tid x10 days" How much medication should be dispensed? 1 tsp = 5ml 5ml x tid = 15ml 15ml x 10days = 150ml
What is the formula for converting Celsius to Fahrenheit? F = (1.8 x C) + 32
What is the formula for converting Fahrenheit to Celsius? C = (F - 32) / 1.8
Convert 40C to Fahrenheit F = (1.8 x 40) + 32 F = 72 + 32 F = 104
Convert 64F to Celsius C = (64 - 32) / 1.8 C = 32 / 1.8 C = 17.8
