Special Education vocabulary

TermDefinition
Lead & Support one teacher leads the class while second teacher circulates to aid student understanding
Station Teaching various workstations set up for students to work independently or with either teacher at a manned station
Parallel Teaching teachers split the class a teach the same content
Alternative Teaching teachers divide the class with one teaching main content while other teaches a modification of the content
Team Teaching teachers present the content as a team building and adding to each others' information
accommodation change enabling the student to demonstrate what they know without lowering the learning expectations
modification Modifications are instructional or test adaptations allowing the student to demonstrate what he knows or can do with a reduced target skill
inclusion students are taught in a regular classroom with aid as needed allowing special student and regular students to interact and learn together
instructional technology technology that helps to present materials in various modes of learning
assistive technology technology that is used by the student to make learning easier
