Indication rapid ventricular rate associated with A-fib and A-flutter and for PSVT refractory to adenosine
Contraindication Hypotension, acute MI, cardiogenic shock, VT or wide complex VT of unknown origin,2nd or 3rd AV block, WPW syndrome, Sick sinus syndrome Beta Blocker use
Adverse Reaction/Side Effect CV: Hypotension, bradycardia, heart block, chest pain, chest pain, and asytole GI: nausea and vommiting. CNS: headache, fatigue, drowsiness
Adult Dose Initial: 0.25mg/kg IVP (usually 20mg)admin over 2 min, if response inadiquate, repeat in 15 min :0.35 mg/kg IVP over 2 min. Maintenance infusion:5.0 to 15mg/hr
Pediatric Dose The safety and efficacy of this drug for use on children has not been established.
