| Hyperbole | An extravagant exaggeration used for emphasis. |
| Idiom | An expression whose meaning is not predictable from the usual meanings. |
| Infer | To draw a conclusion from evidence or reasoning. |
| Rhetorical Device | Language used to create a literary effect.Often used to create emotion, convey meaning, or persuade. |
| Oxymoron | Figure of speech using two contradictory words. |
| Irony | Words or situations that express something different from or opposite to the literal meaning. |
| Motif | A recurring theme that is emphasized throughout a literary work. |
