| bay | part of a large body of water that extends into the shoreline |
| channel | wide strait of waterway between two landmasses that lie close to each other |
| Elevation | hight above sea level |
| Landform | individual features of the land |
| Gulf | part of a large body body of water that extends inland larger than a bay |
| Harbor | a shelterd place along a shoreline where ships can anchor safley |
| Hurrican | violent tropical storm with high winds and very heavy rain fall |
| Island | land completely surrounded by water |
| Moutain | land with steep sides that rise sharply (1,000) ft or more from surraning land |
| Moutain Range | a series of connected moutains |
| Peninsula | body of land jutting out in a lake or an ocean surrounded on three sides by water |
| plain | area of low and at high elevation coverd with grass |
| plateau | flat or rolling land at high elevation usally 300- 3,000 ft high |
| physical features | characteristics of a place-naturally occuring like landforms, climate, resources |
