Bay A part of a large body of water that extends into the shorline
Channel A wide strait or waterway between two landmasses that lie close to each other
Elevation Height above sea level
Landform Individual features of the land
Gulf A part of a large body of water that extends inland; larger than a bay
Harbor A sheltered place along a shrline where ships can anchor safely
Island A land completely surrounded by water
Lake A sizeable inland body of water
Mountain Land with steep side that rise sharply(1,000 ft or more) from surrounding land
Mountain range A series of connected mountains
Peninsula A body of land jutting out into a lake or an ocean surrounding on three sides
Plain An aren of low land at low elevation; covered with grass
Pleteau A flat or rolling land at a low elevation usually at 300-3,000 ft high
Physical features Characteristics of a place-naturally occurring like land-forms, climate, resources
River Large natural stream of water that runs through land
Strait A narrow stretch of water joining two larger bodies of water
Sea A large body of water that is partially or completely surrounded by land
Ocean One of the four major bodies of salt water that surround the continents
Volcano A mountain created as liquid rock and ash erupt from inside the Earth
Valley An area of lowland behind hills and mountains
