| Term | Definition |

| Social Psychology | How the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of individuals are influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. |
| Conformity | Behavior induced by pressure. Ex. We choose to wear clothes based on what society considers normal/acceptable.(in different situations) |
| Compliance | Behavior induced by an overt (open) request. If someone asked you to give $5 for would you comply? or an officer? |
| Internalization | Becoming convinced of what is correct. Ex. If book is favored by 90% of readers, you might internalize that preference believing that it truly indicates one is better than the other. You believe it is better, not because you want to fit in. |
| Forms of Social Influence: Normative Influence | The influence of other people that leads us to conform in order to be liked and accepted by them. |
