Film Viewing Vocab for 10th grade

| Objectivity | To present something the way it is observed without putting your own perceptions into it. |
| Subjective | placing excessive emphasis on one's own moods, attitudes, opinions, |
| Primary Footage | Scenes shot by the director specifically for the film. |
| Archival footage | Scenes taken from other sources |
| Still Images | Photographs as opposed to video. (Although the camera may zoom in and out of the picture.) |
| Text | Subtitles, labels, graphics, etc to help support eh film’s message. |
| Documentary | Non-ficton that provides a visual record of actual events using photographs, video footage, and interviews |
| Dialogue | Words spoken by characters or participants in the film |
| Narration | The act of telling a story |
| Diegetic sound | Actual noises associated with the shooting of the scene |
| Non-diegetic sound | Refers to voice-overs and commentary, sounds that do not come from the action on the screen |
