Film Viewing Vocab for 10th grade

QuestionAnswer
Objectivity To present something the way it is observed without putting your own perceptions into it.
Subjective placing excessive emphasis on one's own moods, attitudes, opinions,
Primary Footage Scenes shot by the director specifically for the film.
Archival footage Scenes taken from other sources
Still Images Photographs as opposed to video. (Although the camera may zoom in and out of the picture.)
Text Subtitles, labels, graphics, etc to help support eh film’s message.
Documentary Non-ficton that provides a visual record of actual events using photographs, video footage, and interviews
Dialogue Words spoken by characters or participants in the film
Narration The act of telling a story
Diegetic sound Actual noises associated with the shooting of the scene
Non-diegetic sound Refers to voice-overs and commentary, sounds that do not come from the action on the screen
