Atomic Structure

Termhas all Definition
Atom The smallest unit of matter with all the properties of an element
Nucleus The core of an atom
Proton A positively charged subatomic particle found in the nucleus of an atom
Neutron A neutral subatomic particle found in the nucleus of an atom
Electron A negatively charged subatomic particle found on the outside of an atom's nucleus with very little mass
Quark The fundamental particles that make up protons and neutrons
Electron Cloud The area around the nucleus of an atom where electrons can be found
